Kulla e Haxhi Zekës në Leshan

The tower of Haxhi Zeka in Leshan of Peja was built by prominent illuminator Haxhi Zeka in the second half of the 19th century and served for family needs. The tower has two floors (P+2) combining elements of civic and rural architecture. This synthesis of architectural items is noted both in the exterior and in the interior part of the building. The tower is typical for variation of the towers with stone floor which emerges from the perimetric wall at south east side corner. Open balcony is characteristic feature of this stone construction which emerges from the south facade perimetric wall which is on the third floor. The interior of the tower has wooden carved decorated items, such as the wooden ornamental ceiling carved by experienced Albanian craftsmen. As base materials in the construction of the tower are used bricks, stones, wood, as a binding material lime mortar was used. This Tower went through several transformations throughout the years; the restoration of the tower was made in 2009. Based on Historical, Architectural, Artistic and Spiritual, the asset Tower of Haxhi Zeka in Leshan in 2016 was proclaimed in permanent protection by the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage.
