The Hadum Agha Mosque, an integral part and located in the nucleus of the urban entirety “Big Bazaar” - Gjakova, was built in 1594-1595 by Hadum Sylejmon Efendi - Hadum Agha. This object served as a sacral object (mosque), while in its complex there is also the mektep that served as a religious school. The mosque complex consists of mosque, minaret, mektep, abdest room, old cemetery and library, which is one of the oldest libraries in Kosovo. The central point of this complex is no doubt the mosque occupying the central position at the site. The porch covered with three domes at the entrance, the central dome, the numerous exterior and interior decorations, and the restored minaret are the elements of one of the most beautiful objects in the entire cultural heritage of Kosovo. The cemetery, considered to be very old, is also of special value. The mektep was restored immediately after the war (2001-2002), while the Library was restored in 2016-2017. Based on its historical, artistic, scientific, social and spiritual value, the Hadum Agha Mosque asset was proclaimed a site under permanent protection by the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage in 2016.
