Lokaliteti arkeologjik i Dresnikut

The Dresnik archaeological park is located in the village of Dresnik i Poshtëm, about 1.5 km east of the city of Klina and lies between the village and the Drini i Bardhë River. Dresnik is one of the most important archaeological sites not only in Kosovo but also in the region. Continuous excavations have resulted in many interesting and important findings for the understanding of early civilization in Kosovo. During the excavations of 2012-2015, several architectural monuments were identified, of which a hall of great proportions can be distinguished. This kind of hall can only belong to the palaces of that time. In addition to the size of the facility, this monument is distinguished because of its entire floors covered with polychrome mosaic. The palace is located in the centre of this location, with a perimeter wall of 3.7 meters and 3 towers distinguished by the size and thickness of the walls. A residential complex was found inside the walls which traces of murals identified, showing the high social, economic and artistic level of the inhabitants of this complex. In addition, many coins of various Roman emperors of the 3rd and 4th centuries were found, as well as a few pieces of marble-made sepals, which lead to the conclusion that this was a “Municipium” (ancient city). Based on historical, archaeological, artistic and scientific values, the Dresnik archaeological site asset in 2016 was proclaimed permanent protection by the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage. Based on its historical, archaeological, artistic and scientific values, the Dresnik Archeological Park was proclaimed a site under permanent protection by the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage in 2016.
