Kalaja e Veletinit me minierat antike

The Veletin Fortress is located about five kilometres southeast of Ulpiana's archaeological site and about 1.5 km northwest of Janjeva, positioned in the hilly part of Shashkoc village which is an 'island' within the Municipality of Prishtina, although physically it does not belong to it. The Veleting Fortress or mining town comprises important archaeological values at national and international level. As a multifaceted site, Veletin is one of the most important archaeological mining sites of an archeo-metallurgical mining nature in our country and in the region. The multifaceted archaeological site of Veletin is unique both in archaeological and industrial heritage terms. The location where this archaeological site lies is a special landscape. This area known for its mining and mineral character has been an integral part of Municipium Ulpiana. Based on historical, archaeological and scientific values, the Veletin Fortress with its antique mines was proclaimed a site under permanent protection by the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage in 2016.
